Hannemann invites Chamber input
Honolulu mayor-elect Mufi Hannemann, having first appointed
the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii as
cochairman
of his cabinet selection panel, is now extending the
deadline for applications and suggestions of people who
could
join his administration.
"Chamber members have been given a unique opportunity
to help Mayor Elect Mufi Hannemann establish his cabinet," said
Christine Camp Friedman in an e-mail to chamber members. "This
is a tremendous opportunity for chamber members to
provide input on the selection of his cabinet and in
addition apply as candidates to fill those positions."
Hannemann said during the campaign that he hoped to run
the city in many respects like a business, and in particular
wanted to
subject city finances to a budget and fiscal analysis
of the sort that corporations undertake in the private
sector.
The deadline for applications has been extended to Monday.
The transition team is requesting that resumes and cover
letters be
sent via fax to (808) 547-7101 or email tsaito1@honolulu.gov
. Resumes must be accompanied by a cover letter identifying
the
department preference. All resumes must list a minimum
three references.
"Chamber members have the opportunity to get involved
and have a say and to provide our new mayor elect with
the tools and
support necessary to formulate and implement sound policy
for the City and County of Honolulu," said Camp
Friedman, who
founded Avalon Development Co. "I encourage our
members to identify qualified applicants and have them
apply."
